These services play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, regulating economic activities, and promoting social welfare.

Classification of Public Services

Public services in India can be broadly classified into three categories:

1.All India Services

2.Central Services

3.State Services

All India Services

All India Services are unique in that they serve both the central and state governments. Officers of these services are recruited through a competitive examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Currently, there are three All India Services:
