CAUSES OF HUNGER
Food security is defined as ensuring that all people have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. However, several challenges undermine food security, leading to widespread hunger
India, despite being an agricultural powerhouse, faces significant inefficiencies in production and distribution that contribute to hunger.
1.Low Agricultural Productivity
Fragmented landholdings, outdated farming techniques, and limited irrigation facilities reduce agricultural output.
Example: As per the Ministry of Agriculture (2021), only 49% of India’s gross cropped area is irrigated, leading to dependence on monsoons and low yields in rainfed regions.
2.Input Challenges
