DALIT MOVEMENTS
Dalit movements in India have played a crucial role in challenging the deeply entrenched caste system and advocating for the rights and dignity of those considered the lowest in the social hierarchy. These movements have aimed to eradicate caste-based discrimination, uplift socio-economic conditions, and ensure equal opportunities for Dalits. Leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Jyotirao Phule, and others have been instrumental in the struggle for Dalit rights, leading various social, political, and economic initiatives to empower this marginalized community.
The caste system in India is a hierarchical social structure that has been in existence for thousands of years. It divides people into different social groups or castes, primarily based on their birth.
