CONSERVATION OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS

Deforestation and Its Causes

Importance of Biodiversity

The earth harbours a great variety of plants and animals, which are crucial for the well-being and survival of mankind. However, a major threat to the survival of these organisms today is deforestation.

Definition and Purposes

Deforestation refers to the clearing of forests and using that land for other purposes. Some of the common reasons for deforestation include:

1.Procuring Land for Cultivation: Forests are often cleared to create more agricultural land to grow crops and support farming activities.

2.Building Houses and Factories: Urbanization and industrialization require large tracts of land, leading to the cutting down of forests.

3.Making Furniture or Using Wood as Fuel: Trees are cut down to provide timber for making furniture and as a source of fuel.
