LAND, SOIL, WATER, NATURAL VEGETATION AND WILDLIFE RESOURCES
1.Land As A Limited Resource: Even though the Earth is vast, only about 30% of its surface is land, and not all of it is suitable for habitation or utilisation due to various physical factors.
2.Distribution Of Population: The world’s population isn’t evenly spread across all land areas. The density of population in any region depends on the features and fertility of the land. Where the land is conducive for activities like agriculture, you’ll find more people. This explains why plains and river valleys, with their fertile soils, are densely populated.
‘Land use’ refers to the way we utilise the available land. This could be for agriculture, forestry, mining, housing, infrastructure like roads, or industries.
The way land is used is influenced by both physical factors (like soil quality, topography, and climate) and human factors (population density, technological capability).
90% of the world population occupies only 30% of land area. The remaining 70% of the land is either sparsely populated or uninhabited.
