Physical Changes

Definition and Characteristics

1.Physical Properties: Properties such as shape, size, colour, and state (solid, liquid, gas) of a substance are referred to as its physical properties.

2.Physical Change: A physical change occurs when there is a change in the physical properties of a substance without forming a new substance. These changes are generally reversible.

Examples of Physical Changes

1.Cutting Paper

Activity: Cutting a piece of paper into smaller pieces.

Observation: The size and shape of the paper change, but it remains paper. There is no change in the chemical properties of the paper.
