INSIDE OUR EARTH
The structure of the Earth can be compared to an onion, consisting of multiple layers stacked upon one another, each with its own unique properties and compositions.
Description: The Earth’s crust is the outermost layer. This is the layer we live on and is where all landforms, oceans, and life forms exist.
Thickness: The crust varies in thickness, being approximately 35 km thick beneath the continents (continental crust) and around 5 km thick beneath the oceans (oceanic crust).
Composition:
1.Continental Crust: Mainly composed of silica and alumina. Due to this composition, it is termed as sial (si–silica and al–alumina).
