REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
India was among the first countries to initiate national action plans and programs to achieve comprehensive reproductive health as a social goal. The initial programs, called family planning, were started in 1951 and have been periodically updated. Currently, these initiatives are known as the Reproductive and Child Health Care (RCH) programs, focusing on a broader range of reproduction-related areas.
The major objectives of RCH programs are:
Creating awareness about various aspects of reproduction.
Providing facilities and support to build a reproductively healthy society.
