Introduction

The 18th century marked a significant period for the Rajput states, characterized by a gradual shift towards autonomy from the weakening Mughal Empire and an increase in their political influence within the broader empire. However, this era was also marked by internal divisions, continuous conflicts, and political intrigue

Autonomy from Mughal Control

1.Growing Independence: The Rajput states capitalized on the diminishing power of the Mughal Empire to assert their independence. The weakening central authority of the Mughals provided an opportunity for these states to operate with significant autonomy.

2.Rajput Influence in the Mughal Empire: During the reigns of Mughal Emperors Farrukh Siyar and Muhammad Shah, the rulers of significant Rajput states like Amber (Jaipur) and Marwar (Jodhpur) were appointed as governors of key Mughal provinces including Agra, Gujarat, and Malwa, indicating their growing influence within the empire.
