INDIA ON THE EVE OF BABUR’S INVASION
The attack by Timur in 1398 marked the downfall of the declining Delhi sultanate. Afterward, several independent kingdoms emerged, constantly battling each other. India lacked a central authority, making it vulnerable to invasion without a unified defence.
1.Origin: After Timur's invasion of India, his nominee seized control of Punjab and subsequently captured Delhi. This marked the beginning of the Sayyid dynasty.
2.Rule and Administration: The Sayyids managed to keep the administrative machinery of Delhi functioning in the early half of the 15th century despite internal and external challenges.
1.Background: Bahlol Lodhi, originally the governor of Lahore and Sirhind, capitalized on the weakening Sayyid rule.
