Following the conclusion of the Slave Dynasty in 1290, the Khilji Dynasty emerged as the ruling power in Delhi. Jalaluddin Firuz Khilji, its founder, ascended to power by overthrowing the last of the Slave sultans, Kaiqubad. This transition marked a significant shift in the leadership of the Delhi Sultanate.
