SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR SOME STATES

To accommodate the unique needs and concerns of certain states, the Indian Constitution provides for special provisions under Part XXI, which includes Articles 371 to 371J. These provisions grant special powers and privileges to certain states and regions, recognizing their distinct social, cultural, and historical background.
These special provisions aim to promote the economic and social development of these regions, protect the interests of the local population, and ensure that their cultural identity is preserved. They provide for the establishment of special bodies and institutions, the reservation of seats in educational institutions and employment, and the protection of land rights and customary laws.
Article 371 of the Indian Constitution provides special provisions for various states to address unique needs and conditions. Special Responsibility of the Governor
The President of India can assign special responsibilities to the Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat through an order. These responsibilities aim to address developmental disparities within the states.
