THE VICE-PRESIDENT
The Vice President of India is the second highest constitutional office in India, after the President. He/she is a vital link between the President, who is the head of state, and the Prime Minister, who is the head of government. The Vice President's role is to assist the President in the discharge of his/her functions and to act as the President in case of the President's absence or inability to discharge his/her functions. He/she also plays an important role in the functioning of the Parliament, by presiding over the Rajya Sabha, and performing other duties related to the functioning of the House
